Simulations
Simulations, based on the Strategy Matrix, are designed to introduce the process of the Strategy Matrix in a format other than certification training. Participants in a simulation quickly learn how to use the Strategy Matrix exploration tool by working with a matrix that has already been set up in a case format. Strategy Matrix simulations are currently available in the following titles:
- Retro Inns (A High Tech Business Traveler Hotel)
- Hotels 2030 (Based on Joel Barker’s “Five Regions of the Future”)
All “Exploring the Future™” simulations are produced in a reproducible paper and computer-based format. Each simulation includes:
- The complete Strategy Matrix from which the simulation is derived.
- Instructor’s Manual
- PowerPoint Slides
The simulations work by taking participants through a series of scored, then partially scored row items from a Strategy Matrix case study. Participants learn the process of the Strategy Matrix quickly, add their own information, then interpret the completed matrix.

Anyone certified in Joel Barker’s Strategy Matrix process can purchase and facilitate the Strategy Matrix simulations. Sessions based on the simulation can be run in a variety of time formats, ranging from 1 to 3.5 hours.
